Mount Muhabura

Mount Muhabura, also known as Mount Muhavura, is an extinct volcano in the Virunga Mountains on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. At 4,127 m, Muhabura is the third highest of the eight major mountains of the mountain range, which is a part of the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. Muhabura lies partly in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park Uganda. Mount Gahinga

Mount Gahinga is a dormant/extinct volcano in the Virunga Mountains on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. Gahinga lies between Muhabura and Sabyinyo though the smallest amongst these with a swampy caldera of approximately 180 meters in width at the top. The vegetation along the mountain is known as afro-montane with bamboo and these act as a habitat to the endangered species of Mountain Gorillas along with other types of wildlife including animals like the golden monkeys and birds which contribute to the ecosystem of Mount Gahinga.
